As someone who strongly advocates for having more Jills in positions of power, it pains me to say this: Jill Stein is not only a terrible presidential candidate, but also a terrible person. Her current kaffiyeh-clad campaign trail nonsense is simply what inspired my takedown of her below.
Let’s start with the basics. Stein has run as the Green Party candidate in every election since 2002, first for various high offices in her home state of Massachusetts, and then in every presidential election since 2012. She never received more than 17% of the overall vote for state office, and never more than 1.07% of the general election vote for POTUS.
Her lack of voter appeal may make her seem innocuous. However, the small percentage of the vote that she does receive has real and dire consequences, especially now that presidential elections in the U.S. are almost always won by thin margins. In the Great Orange Upset of 2016, Trump won the key state of Wisconsin and all of its 10 electoral college points by 22,700 votes. Jill Stein received 31,000. Michigan, and the 16 electoral college points that came with it, was even tighter—Trump won by only 10,700 votes in a state where Stein received a total of 51,400.
So Stein has run a total of 4 presidential campaigns fully aware that she was not going to win any election, that voters’ support of her would almost certainly take votes away from Democrats, and that those votes could possibly swing the election in favor of the only candidate in the race more demented than she is (but yet can win an election, so they one-up her on that). Most people in this situation would be called “failures” or “psychotic.” Yet she insists on continuing to do the same thing over and over and expecting…remind me, what’s the definition of insanity?
Recently, I watched a protest (above) that combined climate change activism with #freepalestine nonsense. It’s hard to identify the most hilarious part of this demonstration: the orca costumes, the police carrying away Boomer hippies like toddlers, or the band playing “Toxic” by Britney Spears as background music?
My first instinct when viewing this display of stupidity was, “what the hell do climate change and Palestine have to do with one another?” Gaza and the West Bank aren’t exactly known as centers for green energy. But then I realized: Election year. Jill Stein. She’s the common link between these two completely divergent concepts, and perfect for the “Genocide Joe” crowd. There’s nothing more appealing to the common useful idiot to terrorists than a candidate with zero chances of winning and who may actually help Trump get reelected. Way to go.
Can someone please explain to me how Stein’s statement below expressing sympathy for Hezbollah aligns with the Green Party’s clean energy agenda?
Accusing Israel of committing “terrorism” in this situation—supposedly for no reason whatsoever—is not only wrong, it is reckless. The “attacks” that Stein (I will not qualify her with the Dr. title; knowing that she and I share the same first name is bad enough) refers to here were the coordinated explosions of Hezbollah communication devices. It was an attack strictly on militants belonging to an internationally recognized terrorist organization that has been lobbing rockets at northern Israel since October 8th, resulting in the displacement of 70,000 Israelis (many of them Arab) from their homes.
If Stein claims to champion unfortunates within war zones, there are plenty to choose from. I submit that Hezbollah militants don’t really top that list. For example, who does Stein consider the victims of Hezbollah’s indiscriminate rocket launching into the Golan Heights that resulted in the killing of 12 Druze kids playing soccer at a field in Majdal Shams? Does that fit within her definition of terrorism?
A lesser known fact about Hezbollah is their involvement in the murder of 500,000 Syrians under al-Assad. That is without a doubt one of the most significant war crimes in the Middle East of the last decade, but receives little to no attention from the media, from campus activists, or from human rights organizations that have spent all of their energies over the last year demonizing Israel. But the Syrian Civil War has no Jews, so who cares? Stein as a Jew herself should be fully aware of this double standard, and if she actually cared about human dignity (as opposed to her own self-promotion), she would be calling it out.
Riddle me this, Jilly: what is the only country in the Middle East where a Palestinian can’t be a doctor, an engineer, or a lawyer?
The answer is Lebanon.
Let’s move on to this poignant verse:
So Barack Obama is now on the same war criminal level as a Syrian dictator who murdered 500,000 of his own people in a still-ongoing civil war, and Stein posting that on social media will somehow prevent WWIII. Cool. Love the “& many more” language at the end; I wonder who else she would care to list as war criminals if she had more room to do so. Taylor Swift? Sacha Baron Cohen? Volodymyr Zelenskyy? That NFL guy who Taylor Swift dates? I mean, they’re all basically Putin (Taylor Swift especially. She made my home NFL team lose its bid to Super Bowl to her boyfriend’s because she attended the game and distracted everyone. That makes her a terrorist in my view).
Here’s the Jill Stein Sucks summary:
Runs stupid campaigns every election.
Has the ability through said stupid campaigns to swing elections in favor of demagogues by siphoning off votes from Democrats.
Portrays militants of terrorist organizations as victims.
Puts all democratically-elected American presidents in the same category as Putin and al-Assad.
Inspires moronic protests from supporters who believe that yelling antisemitic slogans in an orca costume will inspire major social change.
I’ll end by appropriating a slogan from her supporters (sorry not sorry):
SAY IT LOUD, SAY IT CLEAR, WE DON’T WANT NO JILL STEIN HERE [in the USA].
That being said, if she wants to go to Gaza and test out her political ideas there among the general public, I would pay to see that happen live.
She’s a fucking moron and venal too.
People need to drop the fantasy that the Green Party is vote splitting. The Green Party is the, “we hate Democrats”, vote. If it weren't for Jill Stein, they would be doing something else.
