That’s a perfect description of the hypocrisy and privilege of the wealthy so-called liberals infesting our institutions and “educating” the next generations of privileged, self-absorbed individuals who are completely disconnected from reality and deeply paternalistic (when not blatantly racist) to those they claim to care about because they are so righteous, you know. A disgrace in general, sponsored by decades of arab money when it comes to academia in particular.
To answer your question, sadly, I doubt too many people would be concerned about a few more dead Jews. And as I've said, many times, the same people that are emphatic about us examining our own racism, cultural biases and appropriate use of pronouns, refuse to deal with their own anti-Semitism. It just shows how deep anti-Semitism unfortunately runs.
The Jewish community in the 30s busted the heads of Nazi supporters. Sorry to state that so bluntly, but decades of drifting left have left the Jewish community weak and helpless, despite growing wealthier and more comfortable over the last 90 years. American Jews on a whole think owning guns is wrong, and that it’s uncouth to defend yourself against genocidal maniacs.
Anecdotally, in 1996-1997 I got to see how the academic far-left was rooting for Hamas, even early in the Oslo peace process. I would get together with other Israelis on campus and go as a group to debate far-leftists in alleged “peace seminars” that were all about indoctrinating blank slate morons with anti-Zionist propaganda. While they extremely disliked having our questions and comments, they did nothing to stop us because we weren’t physically intimidated by them. The American kids of Hillel were nowhere to be seen.
The Jewish community can start by paying for armed guards in Hillel events that are targeted by screaming, shrill, violent leftists. Campus police have practically zero people per thousand and the university administrators are comfortable with (and often encourage) antisemitic intimidation and violence. Start by making sure there’s a physical price Hamasniks pay for trying to disrupt Jewish community events. Next, teach your kids some goddamn martial arts like the majority of Israelis do. I haven’t seen a group that tempts being bullied as much as American Jews - from the anti-violence statements, to fighting against guns, to obsequiously trying to do “community bridge building” with Muslims who physically attack you. Bullies need to know they seriously risk being hurt, and suddenly they reconsider.
For every Edward Said and Rashid Khalidi, there are a Bari Weiss and a Nellie Bowles. I wish there was more than a 1:1 ratio, but it does encourage me.
It's corruption, plain and simple. No matter what the system you have is, if the corruption reaches a certain level, it's done. This needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency, yet they somehow regroup with little or no consequences.
Your point about class is spot on. This is a class issue and it has the potential, perhaps already has, to become a race one. It's so dangerous and so unnecessary and all the political answers, at least on a national level, are seemingly designed to make it worse.
Fake-"Left" trust-fund babies cosplay as "revolutionaries" while treating the actual Proletariat as servants at best. Typical. In a few years they will exploit workers as execs in dad's conpany. It's Comic-Con for bourgeois Antisemites.
Don't worry though, daddy's company will take on the latest DEI practices under the trust fund baby's new leadership. The exec who got the job through nepotism will say how "out of touch" his dad was, and it's a great thing he's the one taking over; he learned so much during his days as a revolutionary at Columbia.
Well interestingly their fundraising sucks this year. Wonder why. Armstrong apologized for sending in the NYPD. She’s useless. Maybe she’ll give a day off for mourning Sinwar. The students must be a mess today.
Well they are mourning the death of the butcher of khan younis. Not just the butcher of kibbutz Beeri. In other words sinwar killed Palestinians. Some with his bare hands.

100%

The self defense lessons may not be such a bad idea.

Actually I worry more, what happens on the day we call the police in fear for our safety, and they join with our persecutors.
That’s a valid concern

They're already planning a day of mourning in the "Solidarity Sukkah." Wish I were joking.
Columbia's biggest donor is still Qatar so I'm pretty sure they're doing fine.

I wouldn't try using logic to interpret the behavior of these losers.
Columbia is a cesspool of anti Semitism
Obviously, the greater victims are the Zionists, but of themselves.
