And yes, it’s horrific that people are screaming so loudly for the release of Khalil, who is being held legally and in humane conditions, yet the same people would never call for the return of the Israeli hostages, whose abduction was a war crime, and who are being starved and beaten daily.

If I use my free speech to call for the release of Israeli hostages, that obviously makes me Islamophobic.

FIRE has a pretty good traxk record of actually defending free speech regardless of ideology. I think they deserve respect for that.

This Khalil shmuck is barely even an antisemitism issue. At best it's treating a symptom, not the cause.

You do not have any right under the First Amendment to yell fire in a crowded theater

Thank you Jill. I hesitate to share this due to the inevitable 'free speech' shiite that will come flowing my way as a result. I fear the virtue signaling and claims of free speech is another way to hate on the Trump tactics which are indeed fascist. But those that ignore the motivation behind this guy (Kahlil) and his sponsors show their ignorance &/or antisemitism. Quit calling green card holders US citizens. They don't have full citizenship as far as i understand it (true i am also not an immigration lawyer) and are here at the pleasure of our government. If these so called ELITE universities had just done their job and protected ALL their students this shit wouldn't be happening the greenies.

Another good piece Jill, and I tip my hat to you on this one. I remember from a Civic Class, back in another century, what was taught about free speech, yes we sort of have it, but it also comes with a certain amount of responsibility. The way I see things is that "Free Speech" means only approved speech.

The First Amendment is not an absolute right to say anything at any time

What are you talking about?! If I want to call for an intifada, a peaceful act that definitely does not involve the murder of Jews, I have EVERY RIGHT TO!!!

This is what it says

First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Can you peaceably protest say a car dealership, or say your Congress Critter, yes, but throwing a brick through a window is violence or calling for harm is not.

An intifada by definition is not a peaceful act
