My wife is addicted to this series! She watches it on streaming quite a lot even today. I think its main appeal is its escapist personal fantasy, and for us here in Israel - a view of an idealized America to escape to as well.
Ah, yes, the America of small town New England where all of the neighbors get along great, and anyone from a single parent household can get into Harvard by just working hard and having rich grandparents. The American dream indeed!
I never saw that one. I grew up with other unrealistic images though some were pretty good. I remember a lot of shows in the eighties that tackled the difficulty of working class life. “Nine to Five” with Dolly Parton was great. Now people are more likely to work 8-5 with an unpaid lunch or be salaried and never away from email and Slack.
That’s how I felt watching Beverly Hills 90210 as an adult
Can't say I ever watched that...should I?
It didnt appeal to me growing up, it was fun to watch 30 yo’s pretending to be high schoolers with 25 yo’s problems during Covid w wifey.
Emily was always my favorite character
Kelly Bishop is the GOAT

Now I have the "working nine to five" song stuck in my head!
I can't rewatch it because I get too annoyed.
