The most common tactic, as noted here, is just to make a statement and then weaponize that statement to say that anyone who disagrees with it is pro-genocide.
I have a sneaking suspicion that Mr. Randall doesn't believe in Hashem either, but he does believe in himself - otherwise, how could he make that snarky comment that Hashem would describe what is happening in Gaza as a genocide.
Thank you very much, I tend to agree , that to argue/discuss directly with these people is probably useless.
I believe you are serving a very useful function by encouraging me to step back and look at their arguments ( their verbiage, because as you point out they are not offering anything except empty words), break it down and see how empty his argument is .
Appreciate you posting outside the paywall. All the substacks to which I subscribe, and I'm currently at my limit, were always mostly outside the paywall before I decided to subscribe. One never knows. Anyway, you make good points but I choose not to debate or argue the false accusations of genocide. In my view, once they have you defending Israel against the false charge of genocide, you are on the defensive and will never convince them. Plus who cares what these jackasses think? You can never win getting into a braying contest with a jackass.
It's not about convincing jackasses like Jonathan in the video that accusing Israel of genocide is wrong - it's about giving people the verbal ammunition they need to combat that lie.
I agree totally with Steve S. - for the good of my mental health and New Year’s resolution to not engage with people whose views will mot be altered. However… I think it’s very valuable for you to challenge these antisemites with your logical arguments. There are still many out there who are willing to listen to rational discussions. Thank you!
Hi Jill. Nice piece and looking forward to reading the rest of them. I have to agree wit Mr. Moskowitz, that trying to have a discussion with these people is useless. What is not discussed with these who are making the claims, they forget, conveniently what happened on 7 October. They seem to forget what happened, they also seem to forget all of the rockets fired into Israel, just because.
Also love the graph that you posted. A couple of folks that I read are Caroline Glick, and Robert Spencer.
It's usually very telling where anti-Zionists get their information from. Look at the posts they're liking and sharing, and see the same Al Jazeera flavoured rhetoric where they don't take the time to (a) think about the connotations of the content, or (b) have a look at the 'opposing' (ie, Israeli) media to give context and depth. It's impossible to take anyone seriously when they only regurgitate without any examination or even understanding of what they are communicating. Like you, Jill, I am horrified by the destruction of Gaza and the extent of the killing there. But I also know I don't know enough about the complexities of war, nor have the in-depth understanding of how Hamas's rule of Gaza has affected both Palestinians and Israel, who has and continues to be under fire from rockets consistently.
Hi, Jill, I would love to connect with you and run an idea by you. Can you let me know the best way to get in touch (if you're open to that)? Feel free to message me through the site.

Thinly veiled narcissism to basically refer to oneself as Hashem when you probably don't even believe in him!

I think that you would have better results at talking to a wall.

Glad to do my bit!
I think the worst is reading something and then finding out "only paid subscribers" can comment.
Thank you to all of you!

Great stuff! Restacking.
