Dave Smith: The Only Person on Earth to Consider the "Morality" of War!
Really, he's just a terrible millennial stereotype
I’ve ruffled a few feathers in some previous articles with my observations of certain generational trends. Certain reactions from the Boomer bunch especially have made the Gen Z snowflakes look tough. “How dare you insult the generation that gave you the iPhone! We’re not the ones marching for Hamas!” Top notch argument there.
When people demand that I censor myself for their comfort (NEVER. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.), they’re missing the bigger picture. I call it as I see it, and no one group is exempt—not even my own. So to my easily offended Boomer readers: you’re going to love what’s coming next. Here is a millennial who has dug himself into such a deep hole of ignorance, it would be irresponsible at this point not to drag him for his poor representation of my generation.
Meet Dave Smith, whose ethnically ambiguous last name does not immediately betray the fact that he’s actually an As a Jew. After a typical millennial upbringing in New York during which every adult in his life no doubt told him how smart he was despite his patently mediocre track record, he went on to become a comedian (though I cannot recall laughing once at anything I’ve ever heard him say). Then in the absence of any real knowledge of anything, he decided to make an entire brand out of criticizing not only Israel, but all U.S. foreign policy ever. Here he is in his natural smug state with his headphones that appear to be surgically attached to his head:
A small sample of dumb things that Dave is on record saying:
NATO was a terrible idea.
U.S. was wrong to support Ukraine at any point during their war against Russia.
IDF kills children because genocide.
He also self-identifies as a libertarian, which obviously makes him very unique. Everyone knows that only special, super smart people are libertarians!
Recently, our man Dave appeared on the Joe Rogan show to debate Douglas Murray. While I understand that Joe Rogan has more followers than any other social media influencer in the world right now, I would be lying if I said that I understood Rogan’s appeal. I do not find him charming. I do not find him smart. I do not find any of the topics on his show interesting. However, I also realize that I’m not his target demographic. I don’t have the patience to sit through the entire episode, however here is a revealing clip:
TLDW: Douglas asks Dave if he’s ever been to Israel or Gaza. The answer is no, so Dave retorts with, “well, have you ever been to Nazi Germany?!” Great comeback there, Dave. I would expect that for a comedian, he would be able to come up with some better material.
Instead of just moving on from his Rogan interview failure, Dave then appeared on the Piers Morgan program to talk specifically about the Rogan interview. In other words, Piers Morgan, a podcast host, devoted an entire episode to a guest reporting on his interaction with a different podcast host. How original. Here is Dave after getting schooled by an actual combat veteran on the laws of war. I think Dave actually thinks he won:
It’s become completely socially acceptable now to claim unique knowledge of an issue without having studied it too deeply. Some actually take it a step further: they think that maybe it’s better that they don’t have the mainstream history textbook version, because as we all know, the Zionists wrote that narrative. In fact, bringing up one’s expertise in military procedure and how it applies to this war misses the point entirely:
Once you’re appealing to the law or appealing to how warfare actually works, you’re missing the entire point I was making. This is not how the law works and this is not how war actually works. I’m making a much more basic human point, a fundamental point. The other day, okay—and by the way, if you don’t want to believe this story, fine. It’s just one first-hand account from Gaza—and whether it’s true or not, there have been hundreds if not thousands of examples like this…
He then launches into a monologue on some second-hand account he heard on social media about kids being trapped under rubble screaming for help, and “no help is coming to help because there are no bulldozers.” Solid research there, Dave. If I need an expert on bulldozer availability in Gaza, I know who to call: a smug American millennial who has never experienced war moralizing about "how war actually works.”
A good observer of any issue maintains a strong awareness of what they do and do not know. For example, if you speak none of the languages of the country that you are criticizing, there will be some limitations to your overall understanding. It would be absurd, for example, for someone to comment on United States policy without knowing at least a little English. Should one visit the country in question before appearing to speak about it on a livestream that hundreds of millions of people will watch? I highly recommend it—especially if the plan is to make an entire living off of bashing said country. Of course, anyone who has ever delved deeply into a complicated topic knows that once you start seeing the nuances, it becomes impossible to condemn it in the glib manner that Dave does.
The ignorance masquerading as knowledge specific to Israel started way before October 7th. The Israel-Hamas War just took it to never-before-seen levels. Suddenly, anyone with a platform was under social pressure to comment on it, regardless of their connection (or lack thereof) to the conflict itself. As a Jews like Dave (along with others like Peter Beinart and Amy Goodman) figured out that they could attract a wider audience by pushing the unoriginal view that the Jewish state represents modern evil. For them, it’s an opportunity to win validation from elite goyim who feel compelled to “take a stand” alongside this special group of “good Jews.”
All of that being said, there is something that Dave is clearly good at, and that is developing a devoted cult following that will defend his every word no matter how stupid. My platform compared to his is teeny tiny, and many of my followers exist specifically to disagree with me. Maybe Dave could educate me on how to build a loyal following of sycophants who will flood YouTube with comments defending me after everything I say, even when it’s wrong. Help a millennial sister out, Dave!
The worst part for me was when Dave Smith claimed the 'clear similarities' between the Concentration Camps Jews lived and died in and Gaza. He didn't name any similarities, just declared it. This is the self hatred of Norm Finkelstein without pretending to do research. Smith watched some tik tok clips.
Great read, as usually. Thank you!
I saw that thing with Rogan and Murray and my only comment was, "Who is this idiot?"
Now I know who this idiot is.
He's an idiot.
